Friday 27 August 2021 is Cancer Council’s, Daffodil Day.
Daffodil Day is the Cancer Council’s most iconic and much-loved annual fundraising campaign. The Flower Power initiative is all about hope and empowerment. Every donation to the Daffodil Day Appeal means much needed research to support a cancer free future.
Most of us in our lives have sadly been impacted in some way by cancer. Whether that’s having a friend or family member who is battling it, having lost someone we love to it, or facing it ourselves. Did you know that one in two Australians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime? And one Australian is diagnosed with cancer every four minutes.
Every dollar donated to the Daffodil Day Appeal goes towards life-saving cancer research, to support those affected by cancer and early screening methods to prevent cancer before it starts.
With millions raised from the annual Daffodil Day Appeal, investment into research has seen some incredible advancements for cancer prevention, screening and treatment. Survival rates have increased from 49% in the 1980s to 69% today. That 20% survival rate increase is an amazing figure to see and that’s why with more research, each day is a day closer to a cancer free future.
We are in awe of the incredible research being done into cancer. Australia is even on track to be the first country in the world to eliminate cervical cancer by 2035.
There are some incredible stories from cancer survivors about how the Daffodil Day Appeal has helped them through their cancer journey. To read these beautiful stories, head to: https://www.daffodilday.com.au/your-impact/lives-you-save
Here are some ways that just a small donation, makes a huge difference:
- By donating just $25, you can help Cancer Council’s cancer researchers with chemicals and laboratory equipment that they need to do their life-saving work.
- By donating $50, it provides Cancer Council’s cancer researchers with special laboratory equipment to find unlock the answers to understand, treat and prevent cancers.
- By donating $100, it helps to fund DNA sequencing in a cancer gene, allowing the Cancer Council the right tools to improve cancer treatments and help save lives.
At Better Living Homecare, we believe everyone has the power behind the flower to help make a difference in people’s lives and help the Cancer Council work towards eradicating cancer for good.
Our thoughts go out to all our wonderful clients who have been impacted by the disease and we will continue to do our best to spread awareness and assist in any way we can.
